She fell in love with the craft when she visited my exhibition in October last year. Charged with interest, enthusiasm and without any idea how this craft is executed, she enrolled in the Beginers's class, 4 months ago. Initially, she had loads of difficulty in tracing properly and her embossing was rather rigid. Today, after completing the Intermediate and Advance levels of the course, she is a very confident and happy Parcher. Her favourite aspect of this craft is embossing, gridwork and stamping. She is surprisingly creative and always comes up with fun and unusual ways to add final touches to her work. A warm and wonderful human being, Nena is always so willing to learn and share her ideas and discoveries with us all. I count myself blessed to have met her acquaintance and found a friend.
Pearlyn Tang. 40s and a mother of 2 girls. She's Singaporean and currently based in the Philippines, like me. She completed the Basic course more than a year ago but because of other commitments, did not continue the Intermediate and Advance courses till recently. Pearlyn used too strain her eyes and as such, can only work short periods each time. However she has overcome her problem with the help of a hands free magnifier, which she swears by these days. Her cutting has improved tremendously lately and is now much neater and sharper. She has found renewed interest in this craft with the help and encouragement from her fellow parching buddies, has come up with these wonderful pieces. I wish Pearly many fruitful years with this craft. These are Minnie's works. She's 30 and a mother of a 7 yr old boy. Minnie is a chemist by profession and her interest and persistence amazes me. She has been coming to me every Tuesday and Thursday morning before going to work for her lessons for the past 3 months now and has completed all 3 levels of my course. You'll agree with me that her work is something to be admired. Her strong points are in Embossing, and intricate cutwork, which she executes with precision. I want her to practice her painting more and perhaps one day soon, I'll be able to share her painting with you all. A real talent. Esther is in her 20s and is also currently based in the Philippines but am sad to say that she's leaving us shortly to go back to Indonesia. A bright and quick learner her work is always neat and tidy. She embosses beautifully and is good at adding depth and light to the right areas. She would like to be able to teach this craft in Indonesia one day and I know she will make a fine teacher. I wish Esther the very best to come and hope we will continue to touch base after she leaves. |
