• Focus on the two great (greatest?) American traditions of Freedom and Tolerance, both of which imply a respect for Diversity.
• The diversity that is so vital to our nation and our schools should be embedded in our teaching and learning.
• Teaching should be designed in such a way that all students will find something that interests and motivates them.
• We should teach the whole child, catering to those who like to read, those who like to build, those who like to dream, those who like to create, those who like to run and jump, and those who like to interact with others.
• All those skills and interests are valuable to our schools and our country: they all should be addressed, appreciated, taught and encouraged.
