72 MEMORY WORDS -- THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE PRONUNCIATION RULES BASED ON THE ALPHABETIC PRINCIPLE*. IT IS PROBABLY BEST TO TEACH STUDENTS TO SIMPLY MEMORIZE THESE COMMON WORDS. These words can’t logically be “sounded-out”. Serious, literally-oriented students who are taught to “sound -out” every word and who take that teaching literally will probably have some trouble with these words.
