106 Words most written by children
From a reading-teachers’ listserv: The scheme we used in England, for reading and writing, was called Breakthrough to Literacy. Someone at the University of London “researched” (who knows in what way, or how thoroughly) the words most often used in WRITING by emergent writers and readers. I use those words on my word wall, with the addition of everyone’s first name. Here they are: / Beth
NOTE: The words in red are NOT on the Brown / Fry list. That probably means (A) chidren are disproportionally interested in these words, and (B) they probably should be included on material written for children. Beth is a smart teacher.
